Article ID: 930577

Article Last Modified on 2/22/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Habu Laser Gaming Mouse

SYMPTOMS

When you try to update the firmware on the Microsoft Habu Laser Gaming Mouse, the update fails.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices. If the Habu Laser Gaming Mouse is not installed correctly, you will probably see two USB Human Interface Device entries.
  3. Right-click USB Human Interface Device, and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, the location should be Location n (Habu Mouse) where n is a number. If you do not see this, repeat steps 3 and 4 with the other USB Human Interface Device.
  5. On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.
  6. In the Hardware Update Wizard, click No, not this time, and then click Next.
  7. Click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.
  8. Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next.
  9. You should see USB Human Interface Device and Habu Mouse.
    • If Habu Mouse is visible, click Habu Mouse.
    • If Habu Mouse does not appear, click Have Disk, and then locate C:\Program Files\Razer\Habu\Driver. Click habu.inf, click Open, and then click OK.
  10. Click Next. When the software is installed, click Finish.
  11. Click Close, and then restart the computer.

The Razer Habu Configurator and the firmware updater should now work.
