SYMPTOMS
When you connect to the SoftGrid Management Web Service server from the SoftGrid Management Console, the connection is unsuccessful. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This issue may occur if one or both of the following conditions are true:
- The user is not a member of the SoftGrid Administrator Group.
- A database row was not updated when you upgraded from SoftGrid 3.0.0.329 Beta2 to the original release version.
- The SoftGrid Administrator Group is a Local Group.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation.
Method 1: Verify that the user is a member of the SoftGrid Administrator Group
To do this, follow these steps:
- In the SoftGrid Management Console, locate the Connect to SoftGrid System dialog box or the Configure Connection dialog box.
- Verify that the Login Credentials option is set to Use Current Windows Account.
- Verify that the user who is logged on is a member of the SoftGrid Administrator Group.
Method 2: Manually update a database row
To do this, follow these steps:
- Start SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
- Locate the Softricity database.
- Locate the ROLE_ASSIGNMENTS table.
- On the list, click Open Rows, and then click Return all Rows.
- Change the LDAP:// address to
DOMAINNAME
\MySoftGridAdminGroupName
. - Restart the server on which the Webmanagement service is installed.
Alternatively, use Task Manager to stop the aspnet_ws process.
Important If you use Task Manager to stop the aspnet_ws process, unexpected results may occur.
Method 3: Examine the group that is used for the SoftGrid Administrators Group
Make sure that the group that is being used for the SoftGrid Administrators Group is a Domain Global group and not a Local Group.
