The "Connected" message remains on the Zune 30GB device after you turn off the Xbox 360 console

Article ID: 930539

Article Last Modified on 12/4/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Zune Digital Media Player
  • Zune 30GB Digital Media Player

SYMPTOMS

When the Zune 30GB device is connected to an Xbox 360 console and you turn off the console, the "Connected" message remains on the screen of the Zune 30GB device.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the Zune device does not detect the power-off behavior of the Xbox 360 console correctly. If this is the case, the device remains connected and the brightness of the Zune device screen appears as a dim backlight. If you leave the device in this state, the battery will deplete. This was a known issue with the Zune device that is corrected by the current software.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Connect the Zune device to the computer that has the current Zune software installed, and then update the device to the current device software version.
