You cannot use Visio Viewer 2003 to view a Visio drawing in Internet Explorer when you use Group Policy Object Editor to enable ActiveX in Internet Explorer

SYMPTOMS

You use a local Group Policy object (GPO) or a domain GPO to set the following policies:

  • Deny all add-ons in the add-on list
  • Enable the Microsoft Office Visio 2003 Viewer add-on

However, when you use Visio Viewer 2003 to view a Visio drawing in Internet Explorer, the drawing is not displayed.

Note You can view the Visio drawing if it is embedded in an HTML file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.

    If you use a domain GPO to deny all add-ons in the add-on list, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type gpmc.msc, and then click OK.
    2. Right-click the domain GPO that you use to deny all add-ons in the add-on list, and then click Edit.
  2. Expand Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows Components, expand Internet Explorer, expand Security Features, and then click Add-on Management.
  3. In the Add-on Management pane, double-click Deny all add-ons unless specifically allowed in the Add-on list, click Not Configured or Disabled, and then click OK.
  4. Click Start, click Run, type gpupdate, and then click OK.
