Bug #: 50000688 (SQL Hotfix)
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft SQL Server 2005, you delete a join filter from a merge replication publication. Then, you run DML statements against a table that is published for merge replication. In this scenario, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Additionally, the upload phase of the merge replication synchronization may fail, and you may receive the same error message.
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- You delete a join filter that is nested under another join filter. For example, the
T1table is joined to theT2table, and theT2table is joined to theT3table. In this example, this problem occurs if you delete the join filter between theT2table and theT3table. The merge replication publication is configured to use precomputed partitions. For example, the definition of the merge replication publication contains the following parameter.
sp_addmergepublication parameter @use_partition_groups = 'true'
RESOLUTION
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
