INTRODUCTION

The Microsoft Host Integration Server development team now supports IP data link connections from Host Integration Server 2006 systems and from Host Integration Server 2004 systems to IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems that are running i5/OS (OS/400) V5R4.

MORE INFORMATION

The IP data link connection (IP-DLC) link service integrates with IBM Enterprise Extender. IBM Enterprise Extender is a networking architecture that enables Systems Network Architecture (SNA) applications to run over IP networks by using High Performance Routing (HPR).

IBM Enterprise Extender is available for IBM mainframe systems that are running OS/390 version 2.7, a later version of OS/390, or z/OS. The IP-DLC link service is supported when it connects to IBM mainframes that are configured to support IBM Enterprise Extender. For more information about how to configure the IP-DLC link service to communicate with IBM mainframe systems, see the white paper Configuring IP-DLC Link Service for IBM Enterprise Extender. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Note IBM iSeries systems that were released before the release of i5/OS V5R4 do not support IBM Enterprise Extender. Therefore, the IP-DLC link service was not previously supported when it was connected to IBM iSeries systems. For more information about i5/OS V5R4, visit the following IBM Web site:

Detailed information about IBM Enterprise Extender is available on this Web site. To find this information, visit the Web site, type Networking: Network communications in the Search box, and then click GO.
