SYMPTOMS

When you run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor program on a computer that has the Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 firewall client installed, you may receive a warning that resembles the following:

The following applications/drivers are not supported in Windows Vista. Current versions of the following programs will not work with Windows Vista. After the upgrade is complete, you should get updated versions that are compatible with Windows Vista: ISA 2000. A copy of this report has been saved to your desktop.

If you continue the upgrade process, the ISA Server 2000 firewall client does not work. Additionally, after the upgrade process is complete, the ISA Server 2000 firewall client cannot be removed.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the ISA Server 2000 firewall client is incompatible with Windows Vista.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, remove the ISA Server 2000 firewall client before you upgrade to Windows Vista.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
