SYMPTOMS

When you configure a tuner in Windows Media Center to use an OpenCable Unidirectional Receiver (OCUR) device together with a set-top box, the automatic TV setup process appears to be completed successfully. However, tuning requests are unsuccessful, and you cannot watch TV.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because of a problem in the automatic setup logic.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow the manual TV setup process in Windows Media Center to configure the tuner when you use an OCUR device together with a set-top box. Do not follow the automatic TV setup process.

Note In most cases, you should plug the cable directly into the OCUR device. You do not have to use a set-top box together with Windows Media Center.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
