SYMPTOMS
You use the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Operating System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack Update package to try to upgrade a computer that is running Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Service Pack 6a (SP6a) to a different operating system. However, the upgrade operation is unsuccessful. You experience one of the following symptoms:
- The following information is logged in the OSDLaunch.log file:
CHECK FAILED: hMap != 0 (Error = 80070003) Failed to create/open shared environment (800700B7) CHECK FAILED: initialize() (Error = 800700B7) CHECK FAILED: engine.setParameter( EngineParam::PackageSource, m_sImagePath ) (Error = 800700B7) CHECK FAILED: ImageDownloadInfo.InitializeEngine() (Error = 800700B7) OS Deployment advertisement failed to install OS Deployment agent!. Code 0x800700b7
- You receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the SMS 2003 Operating System Deployment Feature Pack Update does not support upgrading from Windows NT 4.0.
The SMS 2003 Operating System Deployment Feature Pack Update program uses the Wimgapi.dll Windows Vista file. This file uses APIs that Windows NT 4.0 does not support.

Although the Readme.htm file that is included with the SMS 2003 Operating System Deployment Feature Pack Update indicates that you can use this feature pack to upgrade a Windows NT 4.0-based computer, this feature pack does not support upgrading from Windows NT 4.0 to a later operating system.
