SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You are creating an application by using Microsoft visual studio 2005.
  • The application uses the ATL OLE DB Consumer Wizard to access a Microsoft Visual FoxPro database through the Visual FoxPro OLE DB provider.
  • The database has more than approximately 100 kilobytes (KB) of stored procedures.

In this scenario, visual studio closes unexpectedly when you click OK to close the ATL OLE DB Consumer Wizard. When this problem occurs, you may receive the following error message:

Microsoft visual studio has encountered a problem and needs to close.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Prerequisites

You must have Visual FoxPro 9.0, Visual FoxPro 9.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1), or the Visual FoxPro 9.0 OLE DB provider installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
