SYMPTOMS
When you use a program to enumerate the cache in Windows Internet Explorer 7, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- You use the FindFirstUrlCacheEntryW API or the FindNextUrlCacheEntryW API to enumerate the cache.
- The cache contains cookies that do not have the path attribute specified.
RESOLUTION
Hotfix information

Registry information
To enable this hotfix, you must modify the registry. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl - On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
- Type FEATURE_WININET_COOKIE_PARSE_PATH_KB929726, and then press ENTER.
- Click FEATURE_WININET_COOKIE_PARSE_PATH_KB929726.
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type iexplore.exe, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click iexplore.exe, and then click Modify.
- Type 00000001 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. The FindFirstUrlCacheEntryW API and the FindNextUrlCacheEntryW API are the Unicode versions of the following Microsoft Windows Internet (WinINet) API functions:
- FindFirstUrlCacheEntry
- FindNextUrlCacheEntry
This problem does not occur if you use the FindFirstUrlCacheEntryA API or the FindNextUrlCacheEntryA API to enumerate the cache in Internet Explorer 7. The FindFirstUrlCacheEntryA API and the FindNextUrlCacheEntryA API are the ANSI versions of the FindFirstUrlCacheEntry WinINet function and the FindNextUrlCacheEntry WinINet function.
