SUMMARY

If you try to paste Works for Windows data into the Windows for Workgroups ClipBook Viewer, the following error message displays and ClipBook Viewer fails to paste the data:

An error has occurred. ClipBook Viewer cannot complete this procedure.

WORKAROUND

  1. Select the item(s) to be copied.
  2. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
  3. Exit Works for Windows.
  4. Open ClipBook.
  5. From the Edit menu, choose Paste.

The item should now appear in ClipBook.

MORE INFORMATION

Works sends the items to the Clipboard in the internal Works format. Exiting Works causes the removal of the Works format and creation of a compatible one, thus, allowing pasting of the items into the ClipBook.

If Works for Windows is still running when the copied items are pasted into the ClipBook, the items copied will appear in the Clipboard, but you will be unable to add them to the ClipBook. If the Clipbook Viewer is open and Clipboard is selected, the available formats appear at the bottom when you select View.

If you have the Clipbook Viewer open and the "Clipboard" selected, selecting "View" from the menu shows the formats at the bottom. The format of text, for example, will be registered as "Text" and "OEM Text", but "MS Works WP" and "Rich Text Format" will be unavailable (dimmed). Graphic objects may be registered correctly, but will not paste into the ClipBook.

If an object is pasted into Works and then copied into the Clipboard, it will not paste into the ClipBook either.
