APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

After you move all public folder replicas from a source server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 to a destination Exchange server, you cannot remount the public folder store. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log: Event Type: Error
Event Source: EXOLEDB
Event ID: 116
Description: Microsoft Exchange OLEDB was unable to initialize event system correctly. Support for store event may have been disabled. HRESULT = 0x8007007e.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Exchange OLE DB provider (ExOLEDB) cannot be started when the events system folder does not have a local replica on the source server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the following hotfix on the source Exchange server. After you install this hotfix, you can remount the public folder store even if the events system folder does not have a local replica. However, the following event error message will be logged: Event Type: Error
Event Source: EXOLEDB
Event ID: 131
Description: The events subsystem for the public folder database was not initialized because the system folder named StoreEvents%1 and its subfolders do not have a replica on this server.
