SYMPTOMS
You install or uninstall the original release version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2005 with Service Pack 2 (SP2) on a Windows Vista-based or a Windows Server Code Name "Longhorn"-based computer. After you do this, you receive an error message that resembles the following in the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup dialog box:
When you click Ignore in the dialog box, the installation is completed successfully.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because of an enhanced file detection feature in Windows Vista and in Windows Server "Longhorn." The enhanced file detection feature is known as Restart Manager. Restart Manager is used together with Microsoft Windows Installer version 4.0.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, you can safely click Ignore in the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup dialog box to continue the operation.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.

This problem does not occur if one of the following conditions is true:
- You use the /quiet switch for the SQL Server 2005 installation.
- You use the /qn switch for the SQL Server 2005 SP2 installation.
