MORE INFORMATION

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

Typically, Antigen 8.0 and later versions of Antigen run daily database management functions on the Incident.mdb database and on the Quarantine.mdb database. The CompactIncidentDB function and the CompactQuarantineDB function are run to delete stale database records and to delete stale Quarantine items.

By default, these functions are run at 02:00 local time. However, you may want to compact the databases at a different time. To run the compaction functions at a different time, you must add a registry entry. To do this, follow these steps.

  1. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then press ENTER.
  2. In the registry tree, locate and then click the following registry subkey depending on the program that you use:
    Program Registry key location
Antigen 8.0 for IM HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sybari Software\Antigen for IM
Antigen 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sybari Software\Antigen for Exchange
Antigen 8.0 for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sybari Software\Antigen for SharePoint
Antigen 8.0 for SMTP Gateways HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sybari Software\Antigen for SMTP
Antigen 9.0 for Exchange HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sybari Software\Antigen for Exchange
Antigen 9.0 for SMTP Gateways HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sybari Software\Antigen for SMTP
Forefront Security for Exchange Server HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Forefront Software\Forefront Security for Exchange
Forefront Security for SharePoint HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Forefront Software\Forefront Security for SharePoint
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click String Value.
  4. Type CompactDatabaseTime, and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click CompactDatabaseTime, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 21:00, and then click OK

Note You must type the time value by using the 24-hour (hh:mm) format. Type the time value that is based on the local time in which you want the compaction functions to run.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
  8. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  9. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  10. Right-click AntigenService or FSCController depending on the program that you use, and then click Restart.
  11. Close the Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
