SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You upgrade Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Then, you try to start Outlook 2007. In this scenario, Outlook 2007 crashes.
CAUSE
This issue occurs when the value of the PONT_STRING registry entry is incorrect.
WORKAROUND
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\General - In the right pane, right-click the Security Zone registry entry, and then click Delete.
- Repeat step 3 for the following registry entries:
PONT_STRINGBodyEditorWarnDelete
- Exit Registry Editor.
