Shapes are missing from a chart if one of the shapes contains a URL in PowerPoint 2007

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You create a chart in a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation. You add one or more shapes to the chart. You type a URL in one of these shapes. For example, you type www.example.com in the shape, and then you press ENTER. You save the presentation as a PowerPoint 2007 presentation. You close and then reopen the presentation. In this scenario, all the shapes and the URL are missing from the chart.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, type the complete URL in the shape.

For example, type http://www.example.com, and then press ENTER.
