ACC1x: "Invalid Range" Error When Importing Spreadsheet Range |
Q92891
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Access versions 1.0, 1.1
- Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a
SYMPTOMS
When you try to import a range of cells from a Microsoft Excel version 4.0 spreadsheet into Microsoft Access version 1.x, you receive the following error message:
Invalid Range
The Select File dialog box appears after the error message.
CAUSE
You specified an invalid range of cells to import, either by improperly referencing them (for example, R0C0:R5C3), or by providing a nonexistent range name.
RESOLUTION
Reselect the file that you want to import, and then choose Import from the File menu. When the Import Spreadsheet Options dialog box is displayed, make sure you type a valid range reference in the Spreadsheet Range box. This range can be a specific range of cells (for example, A5:B12), or a defined name that refers to a range of cells on the spreadsheet (for example, MYRANGE).
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
