SYMPTOMS

In Windows Internet Explorer 7, no options appear under Settings on the Advanced tab of the Internet Options dialog box.

Note To see the Internet Options dialog box, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the following registry subkey is missing. This problem also occurs if some entries in this subkey are missing:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

   regsvr32 /n /i inetcpl.cpl
