INTRODUCTION

This article discusses how to install the Microsoft ASP.NET Development Server that is available in Microsoft Expression Web.

To install the ASP.NET Development Server, follow the appropriate steps for the operating system that you are using:

Note When you install the ASP.NET Development Server, you may be asked to close programs that are running. Or, you may be asked to provide the CD or network location that you used for your installation of Expression Web.

Microsoft Windows XP

Note Before you install Microsoft Expression Web, install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. If you install the .NET Framework after you install Expression Web, the ASP.NET Development Server will not be installed.

  1. Click Start, click Run, type control panel, and then click OK.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Microsoft Expression Web in the Currently installed programs list, and then click Change.
  4. In the Microsoft Expression Web dialog box, select Add or Remove Features, and then click Continue.
  5. In the Customize how Microsoft Expression Web will run list, expand Microsoft Expression Web.
  6. Click the arrow to the left of ASP.NET Development Server, click Run from My Computer or Installed on First Use, and then click Continue.


Note If you select Run from My Computer, the ASP.NET Development Server will be installed immediately. If you select Installed on First Use, ASP.NET Development Server will be installed the first time that you try to use it.

Windows Vista

Note By default, Windows Vista includes .NET Framework 3.0.

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
  3. In the Uninstall or change a program list, click Microsoft Expression Web, and then click Change.
  4. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
  5. In the Microsoft Expression Web dialog box, select Add or Remove Features, and then click Continue.
  6. In the Customize how Microsoft Expression Web will run list, expand Microsoft Expression Web.
  7. Click the arrow to the left of ASP.NET Development Server, click Run from My Computer or Installed on First Use, and then click Continue.


Note If you select Run from My Computer, the ASP.NET Development Server will be installed immediately. If you select Installed on First Use, ASP.NET Development Server will be installed the first time that you try to use it.
