APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005

INTRODUCTION

The Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 generic, single-line log provider only supports log file folders that reside on the same computer as the MOM agent. Log file folders that reside on a remote storage device or that use a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path are not supported.

MORE INFORMATION

The MOM 2005 log provider is designed to parse files to which information can be quickly appended. When you create a generic, single-line log provider type, you must designate the folder where the log will be located. Folders that reside on the same computer as the MOM agent provide the best performance.

Log file folders that are located on UNC paths or on remote storage devices may not provide sufficient performance. This may cause the generic, single-line log provider not to record log update events.
