SYMPTOMS

You cannot sign in to the Zune Marketplace or create a Zune account, a Zune Pass subscription, or a "Pay as you go" account.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the Windows Live ID services are unavailable.

Note The Zune Marketplace and the new account creation service are supported by the Windows Live ID sites and services.

THINGS TO TRY

1. Determine the status of the Windows Live ID services. To determine whether the Windows Live ID services are available, try the following method:
   • Windows Live ID
     Follow these steps:
     1. Visit the following Web site:

        http://support.msn.com/networkstatus.aspx

     2. Click Microsoft Passport Network (now Windows Live ID). The status of the network appears.
2. If the Windows Live ID services are temporarily unavailable, try again later.

If the Zune Marketplace is unavailable, the following message will be displayed in the Zune Software:

Zune Marketplace is temporarily unavailable. Please check back soon.
