SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

  • The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service (Store.exe) stops responding. Additionally, the following conditions are true of the MSExchangeIS object:
    • The value of the RPC Requests performance counter is more than 25.
    • The value of the RPC Operations/sec performance counter is close to 0.
  • When Exchange Server 2007 is running as a node of a cluster, the following event appears in the Application log:

    Event type: Error
    Event source: MSExchangeCluster
    Event ID: 1005
    Date: date
    Time: time
    User: N/A
    Computer: computerName
    Description: Clustered Mailbox Server: virtualname Physical Server: computername The IsAlive check for the resource MSExchangeIS failed.

This problem occurs if Exchange Server 2007 is installed on a computer that has more than 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a problem in the Windows kernel.
