SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You configure the Smartcard Removal Behavior: Force Logoff Group Policy setting together with the Remove Lock Computer Group Policy setting. When you do this, you are not logged off after you remove the smart card. This behavior occurs on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP Professional.

In this scenario, when you remove the smart card, you expect the following results:

  • The first user is logged off.
  • The next user can log on.

Note The previous Group Policy settings are located along the following paths:

  • Computer Configuration\Windows Setttings\Security Settings\Security Options\Interactive Logon: Smartcard Removal Behavior
  • User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Ctrl+Alt+Del Options\Remove Lock Computer


RESOLUTION
