Zune devices that previously appeared as "connected" no longer appear when you refresh the Zune software or search for connected devices

Article ID: 928085

Article Last Modified on 9/20/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Zune Digital Media Player
  • Zune software

SYMPTOMS

When you press F5 to refresh the Zune software or use the menu option to search for connected devices, any Zune devices that previously appeared as "connected" no longer appear.

CAUSE

When you refresh the Zune software or search for connected devices, the Zune software temporarily cancels the association with the Zune device.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Search for connected Zune devices again. To do this, press F5 again. Alternatively, point to Sync on the Options menu, and then click Find Connected Devices. In either case, any connected Zune devices will appear again.

MORE INFORMATION

If you let the Zune software automatically detect your Zune device and then refresh the Zune software or search for connected devices, the menu options for the device do not appear. Therefore, the Zune device will not be available to sync.

If you connect your Zune device to the Zune software as a guest and then refresh the Zune software or search for connected devices, the device will not appear on the Sync menu.
