INTRODUCTION

The Help system for the 2007 Microsoft Office suite contains Help topics that list where you can find Microsoft Office 2003 menu and toolbar commands that are in the new 2007 Office programs.

These Help topics also have links to Microsoft Office Excel 2007 workbooks. These workbooks contain a comprehensive list of the locations of the menu and toolbar commands in the 2007 Office programs. These workbooks are available through both Office Online and Office Offline. This article describes how to access these workbooks through Office Offline.

MORE INFORMATION

When you are not connected to the Internet through the network, the Help system for 2007 Office programs starts in Office Offline mode. This is a reduced functionality mode for the Help system. You cannot access any online Help topics or links to demos. Additionally, other files are unavailable in this mode. However, the following Excel 2007 workbooks are available through Office Offline:

  • Access Ribbon mapping workbook
  • Excel Ribbon mapping workbook
  • Outlook Ribbon mapping workbook
  • PowerPoint Ribbon mapping workbook
  • Word Ribbon mapping workbook

These workbooks are located within the Help system. They can be accessed only by using their Help URL. The Help URLs for each workbook are as follows:

To access these workbooks, follow the steps that are appropriate for the operating system that you are using.

Note In these steps, replace program_name_map with one of the following workbook file names:

  • Accessmap
  • Excelmap
  • Outlookmap
  • PowerPointmap
  • Wordmap

Microsoft Windows XP

  1. Click Start, click Run, type ms-help://MS.RIBBON.12.1033/RIBBON/program_name_map.xls, and then click OK.
  2. If you are prompted to confirm that you want to open the file, click Open.

Windows Vista

  1. Click Start[[File:../gfx/vistastartbutton.jpg|[GRAPHIC: Start button]]], type ms-help://MS.RIBBON.12.1033/RIBBON/program_name_map.xls in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
  2. [[File:../gfx/securityshield.jpg|[GRAPHIC: User Account Control permission]]] If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
  3. If you are prompted to confirm that you want to open the file, click Open.

You can also use a Web browser to access these workbooks. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Start the Web browser. In the Address box, type ms-help://MS.RIBBON.12.1033/RIBBON/program_name_map.xls, and then press ENTER.
  2. If you are prompted to confirm that you want to open the file, click Open.
