You receive an "IIS port invalid" warning message when you install ProClarity Analytics Server

Article ID: 927971

Article Last Modified on 12/13/2006

APPLIES TO

  • ProClarity Analytic Server
  • ProClarity Analytics Server 6.1
  • ProClarity Analytics Server 6.2

SYMPTOMS

When you install ProClarity Analytics Server (PAS), after you select the Choose Installation Type option and the Full Product option, you receive the following warning message:

IIS port invalid

After you click OK, the initial installation startup dialog appears again.

This problem occurs in PAS 6.x and in PAS 5.x.

CAUSE

The PAS installation requires that the Default Web Site be set to use port 80. In some special cases, even though the Default Web Site is set to use port 80, the port setting may still be invalid because of incorrect characters.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you can use Metabase Explorer to edit the Internet Information Services (IIS) metabase. The Metabase Explorer is included in the IIS 6.0 Resource Kit Tools. To download the IIS 6.0 Resource Kit Tools, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

  1. Start Metabase Explorer.
  2. In the left pane, locate the following node:

    LM\W3SVC\1

  3. Double-click ServerBindings in the right pane.
  4. In the ServerBindings Properties dialog box, make sure that the ServerBindings value follows the IP-Address:80ComputerName format. Also, make sure that there are no other characters in the string.

Note IP-Address is the IP address of the computer. ComputerName is the computer name of the computer.
  5. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
