In ProClarity Analytics Server 5.3, the result is incorrect when you divide a decimal number by a calculated measure in an MDX definition

Article ID: 927945

Article Last Modified on 2/7/2007

APPLIES TO

  • ProClarity Analytic Server

SYMPTOMS

When you divide a decimal number by a calculated measure in a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) definition, the result is incorrect in ProClarity Analytics Server 5.3. The result is calculated without using the decimal point in the decimal number. For example, the result of 100.00 divided by 0.5 is 20,000 instead of 200.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the calculated measure uses the currency format in the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services cube.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the VAL function in the MDX definition for the calculation. The VAL function explicitly instructs Analysis Services to use the decimal number.
