Change the volume settings

General audio controls on a computer

Other software and hardware controls can affect the volume and the audio settings in the Zune software. If you experience audio issues, adjust the Windows audio settings; the volume controls on the speakers, subwoofer, or amplifier; or the audio settings in any other software that you use to configure the sound card in the computer.

Zune software controls

In the Zune software, you can adjust or mute the volume.

To adjust the volume in the Zune software, drag the Volume slider [GRAPHIC: Volume slider] to the left or to the right.

To mute the volume, click the Mute button [GRAPHIC: Mute button].

To restore the audio, click the Sound button [GRAPHIC: Sound button].

Change the equalizer settings

In the Zune software, you can use equalizer settings to emphasize certain frequencies in the audio. To adjust the equalizer settings, click Options, point to Playback, point to Equalizer, and then select from the following options:

  • Acoustic
  • Classical
  • Electronica
  • Hip Hop
  • Jazz
  • Pop
  • Rock

To turn off the equalizer settings, click Options, point to Playback, point to Equalizer, and then click Off.
