APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Connected Services Framework Standard Server 3.0, when used with:
    • Microsoft TV IPTV 1.1
    • Microsoft TV IPTV 1.01
    • Microsoft TV IPTV 1.01

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Connected Services Framework (CSF) 3.0 together with Microsoft TV IPTV Edition, the IPTV Poller service cannot use Integrated Windows authentication in Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). The IPTV Poller service can communicate with IPTV back-end systems only when the anonymous access option is enabled in IIS. However, enabling the anonymous access option may cause a security risk.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.

Installation information

The hotfix installer puts a file on the destination computer. You must manually replace the existing CSF file with the file from the hotfix package. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Stop the IPTV Poller service.
  2. Back up the following CSF file:

    Microsoft.connectedservices.wellenabledservices.iptvpollerservice.exe

    The file is located in the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft CSF\V3.0\IPTVWES\Bin

  3. Copy the Microsoft.connectedservices.wellenabledservices.iptvpollerservice.exe file from the hotfix package to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft CSF\V3.0\IPTVWES\Bin folder.
  4. In the Microsoft.connectedservices.wellenabledservices.iptvpollerservice.exe.config file, add the following configuration values after the PollByStatus configuration.

    <appSettings>
    <add key="IntegratedSecurity" value="true"/>
    </appSettings>

    Note If you set the value of the IntegratedSecurity key to true, the IPTV Poller uses Integrated Windows authentication. If you set the value of the IntegratedSecurity key to false, the IPTV Poller works only when the anonymous access option is enabled in IIS. By default, the IPTV Poller service does not use authentication.

  5. Start the IPTV Poller service.

  • The browser supports the Kerberos v5 authentication protocol.

Otherwise, the IPTV Poller service uses the NTLM authentication protocol.
