This hotfix package also fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • You compare a revised document to an original document in Word 2003. When you do this, the revised document may not correctly show the changes that were made to the words or the sentences in the original document.

For example, you may experience the following symptoms when you compare the documents:
    • Changes may be displayed when changes were not made.
    • Changes may not be displayed when changes were made.
  • When you paste a numbered list that uses a custom style into a new document in Word 2003, the pasted list is not numbered.

Note This problem may occur after you install the hotfix or the update that is described in one of the following articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • You work with a Smart Document in Word 2003. When you move the cursor into the Reviewing pane, the Document Actions pane may disappear. Additionally, a task pane that you opened earlier may now be displayed.
  • You open a document that is attached to a template that contains a custom toolbar. If the Remove Hidden Data add-in is installed, the custom toolbar is not displayed.

This problem may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
    • The document is opened by using a command prompt.
