Article ID: 927585

Article Last Modified on 3/29/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Antigen for Exchange

SYMPTOMS

When a Microsoft Exchange cluster has two or more Exchange virtual servers, the second Exchange virtual server cannot fail over successfully. This occurs after you install Microsoft Antigen 9.0 for Exchange on every node of the cluster. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

An error occurred attempting to read properties for the AntigenIMC (EVS name) Resource. The object already exists.

CAUSE

When you install Antigen on every node of an Exchange cluster, the installation program creates an AntigenIMC resource. When a node fails over, that resource does not start. Then, you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, a new installation build has been created specifically for Exchange cluster environments. The new build number is 9.00.1055.64. To obtain this installation build, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
