SYMPTOMS

After you insert a CableCARD in a digital cable tuner that is connected to a Windows Vista-based computer, you may receive the following error message when you try to watch a live TV channel:

No Signal

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the CableCARD was not available when you first configured TV in Windows Media Center. This problem occurs when the initial TV listing assignments cause Media Center to incorrectly tune some channels when TV is later configured to use CableCARD.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use either of the following methods.

Method 1: Restore the default channels

  1. Start Windows Media Center.
  2. Click Tasks, and then click settings.
  3. Click TV, and then click Guide.
  4. Click Restore Default Channels and then click OK.

Method 2: Set up the Guide listings

  1. Start Windows Media Center.
  2. Click Tasks, and then click settings.
  3. Click TV, and then click Guide.
  4. Click Set Up Guide Listings, and then follow the steps to complete setup.
