SYMPTOMS

When you try to close a solution or try to exit the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 IDE, the Visual Studio 2005 IDE may crash. Typically, this problem occurs if one or both of the following conditions are true:

  • In the solution, one project or more than one project has .asm files.
  • The project does not have any C files or any C++ files.


RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
