SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You deploy Microsoft Windows Server 2003. You configure the security event logs retention mandate and size mandate for a size that is larger than the default size. The system stops responding during typical usage and event log growth.
In this scenario, the following symptoms occur:
- All processes that depend on the Service Control Manager (SCM) stop responding. For example, the server may eventually stop responding. If this occurs, you must restart the server.
- If the server is a cluster node, the server stops responding. Failover to another node may not occur.
RESOLUTION
