SYMPTOMS
After you install Virtual Server 2005, you receive the following error message when you open the Virtual Server Administration Web site:
CAUSE
This problem occurs because one or more of the following policy settings are configured incorrectly:
- Log on as a batch job
- Log on as a service
- Generate security audits
- Replace a process level token
- Adjust memory quotas for a process
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type Gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
- In Group Policy Object Editor, expand Computer Configuration, expand Windows Settings, expand Security Settings, expand Local Policies, and then click User Rights Assignment.
- In the right pane, double-click Log on as a batch job. In the Log on as a batch job Properties dialog box, make sure that the LOCAL SERVICE group is in the list. If the LOCAL SERVICE group is not in the list, add the group to the list.
- In the right pane, double-click Log on as a service. In the Log on as a service Properties dialog box, make sure that the NETWORK SERVICE group is in the list. If the NETWORK SERVICE group is not in the list, add the group to the list.
- In the right pane, double-click Generate security audits. In the Generate security audits Properties dialog box, make sure that the LOCAL SERVICE group and the NETWORK SERVICE group are in the list. If either group is not in the list, add the missing group to the list.
- Repeat step 5 for the Replace a process level token policy setting and for the Adjust memory quotas for a process policy setting.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
