SYMPTOMS
When you play a high definition video in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, and then you switch to another high definition video, you may experience any of the following symptoms:
- The display turns black. The video does not play.
- The display turns black. Then the video plays after several seconds.
- Display shows a shaded overlay. Then the video plays after several seconds.
CAUSE
This issue may occur if the video adapter has insufficient available video RAM when Media Center tries to allocate video memory.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, replace the video adapter that is installed in the computer with one that has more than 128 megabytes (MB) of video RAM.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:
- Close, and then restart Media Center.
- Close the current high definition video before you switch to another high definition video.
