SYMPTOMS
Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
When a Microsoft Access pop-up window is active in Form view, pressing any ALT+key combination to gain access to the menu bar does not work.
RESOLUTION
Use the mouse instead of the keyboard to gain access to the menu bar. When you use the mouse, you can make the pop-up window inactive.
MORE INFORMATION
When a pop-up window is active, pressing any of the ALT+key combinations will not pass any function to the menu bar, only to the current active window. Therefore, you have to make the current pop-up window inactive and make the form active to enable the ALT+key combination on the keyboard. You can do this only with the mouse.
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- Run Microsoft Access and open the sample database Northwind.mdb (or NWIND.MDB in versions 1.x and 2.0).
- Open the Add Products form in Design view.
- If the property sheet is not displayed, click Properties on the View menu to display the property sheet.
- Press ALT+F. Note that this does not open the menu File.
