SYMPTOMS

When you open a smart document in Microsoft Office Word 2007, you are not prompted to install the XML expansion pack manifest file. Additionally, the smart document does not perform as expected.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the smart document is not located in a trusted location.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, move the smart document to a trusted location. To find a trusted location, follow these steps:

  • Start Word 2007.
  • Click the Microsoft Office Button, click Word Options, and then click Trust Center.
  • Click Trust Center Settings, and then click Trusted Locations.
  • Note the list of trusted locations, or click Add new location.

When you move the smart document to a trusted location, the smart document performs as expected.
