The Mail program does not start after you install a non-English version of Outlook 2007

Article ID: 926538

Article Last Modified on 4/25/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

SYMPTOMS

You try to start the Mail program (Mlcfg32.cpl) from the Control Panel in Microsoft Windows. When you do this, the Mail program does not start.

This issue occurs after you perform the following tasks in the following order:

  • You install a non-English version of Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
  • You install the English Language Pack for Microsoft Office without specifying the language option for Outlook 2007.
  • You set the default language for all Office programs to English.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Mail program does not update the LastUILanguage registry entry. This entry is used to find the resource .dll file for the language.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, start Outlook 2007 before you start the Mail program.
