You cannot view the items in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 list that you added to Outlook 2007

Article ID: 926439

Article Last Modified on 4/25/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, when used with:
    • Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You log on to a computer by using a Microsoft Windows user account. Then, you start Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 by using a Microsoft Exchange Server user account. The Exchange Server user account differs from the Windows user account. You add a list from a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site to Outlook 2007. In this scenario, you cannot view the items in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 list that you added to Outlook 2007.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 list is configured as follows:

  • The Windows user account does not have permission to view the items in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 list.
  • The Exchange Server user account has permission to view the items in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 list.

Outlook 2007 uses the Windows user account credentials to synchronize the items from the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 list. Outlook 2007 does not use the Exchange Server user account credentials to synchronize the items from the Windows SharePoint Service 3.0 list.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, make sure that each Exchange Server user logs on to the computer by using a different Windows user account.
