SYMPTOMS

You cannot find media content on a Windows XP Media Center-based computer by using the Media Center Extender for Xbox 360.

CAUSE

The extender account that you are using does not have the appropriate permissions to access the content.

THINGS TO TRY

1. Copy the media content into one or more of the folder locations that are listed in the "More Information" section.

   Note For the content to inherit the correct permissions, you must copy the media content into these default folders.

   If you prefer to leave the media in the current location, you can manually set the permissions for the extender account. For more information about how to set permissions on a shared folder, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

   Note For the Media Center Extender for Xbox 360 to access the content, the MCRD Users Group must have Read, Read & Execute, and List Folder Contents permissions to the content.

For Media Center Extender for Xbox 360 to access media content that is located on a Windows XP Media Center-based computer, the extender account must have the appropriate permissions to access the content.

By default, the Media Center Extender for Xbox 360 uses the following folders to store media content:

• C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV
• C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music
• C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Videos
• C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\My Documents\My Videos
• C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\My Documents\My Music
• C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\My Documents\My Pictures
• C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\My Documents\My Videos
