SYMPTOMS

When you try to upgrade a database in Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006, you receive the following error message:

The database cannot be upgraded.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you do not save a backup of the existing database on the local hard disk when you are prompted to back up the existing database. For example, you save a backup of the existing database on a USB flash drive, a CR-ROM drive, or an external hard disk.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, save a backup of the existing database on the local hard disk.
