SYMPTOMS

When you print to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet Series 4 printer, the following error message may appear on the liquid crystal display (LCD) of the printer:

Paper Jam

This error may be displayed when no paper jam is present.

CAUSE

The HP LaserJet Series 4 printer is the first in the LaserJet line that does not support straight-through printing. If the back cover of the printer is open, you receive the "Paper Jam" error message.
