SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You use Microsoft Office FrontPage to create a custom OLE DB connection from a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site to a Microsoft Office Access database. In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, you configure the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site to use HTTP and HTTPS. In FrontPage, you right-click the new database connection, and then click Insert Data View to add a new Data View. Then, you save the changes.
In this scenario, when you use an HTTP connection, such as http://ServerName
/Sites/SiteName
, to visit the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site, the new Data View is not displayed.
Additionally, when you use an HTTPS connection, such as https://ServerName
/Sites/SiteName
, to try to view the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site, you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This issue occurs because Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 does not support Access databases. By default, the Jet OLE DB provider is disabled in list of OLE DB providers that are supported by Windows SharePoint Services 2.0.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, upsize the Access database to a Microsoft SQL Server database. For more information about how to use the Upsizing Wizard, visit the following Microsoft Web sites:
