Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

You receive this error message even though the Windows SharePoint Services Administration service is running.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you are not a local administrator on the computer on which the Windows SharePoint Services Administration service is running. To delete a Web application, you must be a local administrator on the computer on which the Windows SharePoint Services Administration service is running. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
