The hotfix that is discussed in this article is not available for the Chinese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or for the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

SYMPTOMS

When you view the Account Summary report in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, some text is displayed that has HTML formatting characters such as the following character:

&nbsps;


This problem occurs if the text was pasted into e-mail activities from Notepad, WordPad, or other text editors.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the function that is used to strip out HTML characters from data fields does not strip out all the HTML formatting.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. The hotfix corrects the problem that is described in this article. Apply the hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

Installation information

To install this hotfix, follow these steps:

  1. Install this hotfix on computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server.
  2. Log on to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web client as a user who has the Manage Reports permission.
  3. Click Workplace, and then click Reports.
  4. In the Category list, click Hidden Reports.
  5. Select the Account Summary Sub-Report report, and then click Edit Report on the More Actions menu.
  6. In the Report Type area, click File. Then, select the following file in the Location box:

    Account summary sub-report.rdl

    Note By default, this file is in the following location:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM\KB925500\Account summary sub-report.rdl file

  7. Click Save and Close to save the new report into Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  8. If you want to revert to the original file, repeat steps 2 through 7. However, you have to select the original Account Summary sub-report.rdl file that is in the following location when you complete step 6:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM\Reports\MSCRM

Prerequisites

No prerequisites are required for this hotfix.

Restart requirement

If you are prompted, restart the computer after you install the hotfix.

Removal information

To remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows 2000, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. System administrators can use the Spuninst.exe tool to remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000.
