SYMPTOMS
When you use Storage Manager in Microsoft Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 to create a volume that is larger than 2 terabytes and that is smaller than 2.4 terabytes, the storage wizard does not successfully create the volume.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a bug in the Storagemgmt.dll file.
RESOLUTION
Service pack information

Restart requirement
You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must close and then reopen Storage Manager or any open Microsoft Management Console (MMC).

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
- When this problem occurs, the storage wizard does not successfully create the volume. However, the logical unit number (LUN) is successfully created. Therefore, you can use Disk Management to create the volume. To start Disk Management, click Start, click Run, type diskmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
- Create a volume that is larger than 2.4 terabytes.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was first corrected in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
