SUMMARY
This article describes the Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issue that is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package that is dated September 19, 2006.

INTRODUCTION
This update fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 portal pages take thirty to fifty seconds to display. This issue occurs because of the large amount of unnecessary daily and monthly usage data that has been collected. The usage data is written and read. However, it is not used for usage analysis because the usage data is stored in a different location. The unused usage data is transmitted over the network. This causes the delay. This issue may also affect the performance of the SharePoint Portal Server crawling process. This issue may cause slow crawl times.
