When a Web page that hosts Flash advertisements in an iframe object refreshes itself dynamically, Internet Explorer may stop responding

Article ID: 924928

Article Last Modified on 10/24/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0

SYMPTOMS

When a Web page that hosts Flash advertisements in an iframe object refreshes itself dynamically, Microsoft Internet Explorer may stop responding.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the OnLoad event handler on the main page or on the page to which the iframe object points is called before the current page is destroyed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, add a short delay to the OnLoad event handler code on the main page and also on the page to which the iframe object points. The page then has sufficient time to create a workable HTML object. The OnLoad event handler code can access the HTML object and display its content on the new page.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
